On October 8th, 2019, the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington DC will hear oral arguments in three cases to determine whether it is illegal to discriminate against people in the workplace for sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. The use of “sex” in Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and later legal precedents has long been understood to include these; that’s being challenged.
ACT UP Philadelphia will have free buses available to DC on October 8th for a direct action with a civil disobedience component. AUP is one of many groups organizing the action in cooperation with Housing Works out of New York. We'll be meeting to board buses from Philadelphia at Broad & Walnut at 6AM. A bagged lunch and water will be provided.
ACT UP! FIGHT BACK!
