Senator Art Haywood (Montgomery County) and Senator Steve Santarsiero (Bucks County) will gather with environmental advocates and renewable energy leaders to introduce legislation that would place the first-ever limits on carbon emissions from Pennsylvania’s electric power sector, aiming to reduce emissions 90% by 2040.
Led by Senator Jay Costa (Allegheny County), the Climate Change Mitigation and Energy Transition Act would establish an ambitious, declining limit on carbon emissions. At the same time, it would create an Energy Transition Fund to support programs that promote
clean air and create jobs by expanding the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
