Join Philly DSA for our quarterly State of the Union event! The State of the Union is a conversation between leading labor activists and members of PHL DSA’s Labor Branch to discuss union organizational efforts. The State of the Union is intended to be an informal conversation where labor leaders can share their personal organizing experiences, discuss the progress of labor campaigns across the region, and connect their accomplishments to broader political objectives.
For this State of the Union, Marc Schworer of the Transit Workers’ Union will be joining Kilynn Lunsford of the PHL DSA Labor Branch in conversation.
Schworer has been a labor leader for the majority of his working life, serving as a union representative for one union or another for at least 15 years. He served as a steward in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1944 and in the Communications for Workers of America Local 13500 (both at Bell Atlantic/Verizon). More recently, he has served as a section officer for the Transit Workers Union (TWU), Local 234 in two different sections, the city track and the Suburban division. Kilynn Lunsford will speak to Schworer about current TWU campaigns and the future of labor organizing.
