The United States accounts for only 5 percent of the world’s population, yet we are responsible for nearly 22 percent of the world’s prison population. Students in schools across Philadelphia have been critically examining what effects these high incarceration rates have on our country and how injustice in our criminal justice system has contributed to high incarceration rates.
Come learn from Philadelphia students about mass incarceration! Students from The Workshop School, The U School, Science Leadership Academy, Science Leadership Academy at Beeber, and Franklin Learning Center will lead sessions to engage participants in conversation about mass incarceration and ways to take action around the issue.
