The city is preparing to make decisions about Philadelphia's energy system - decisions that effect the air we breathe, our health, jobs, and future generations.
All are invited to a historic town hall to hear the results of a community survey and continue discussing a vision for an energy system where we all have the #RightToBreathe.
Refreshments and childcare provided. RSVP at phillythrive.org/town_hallor 215-987-5972.
Since May 2017, Philly Thrive has been running the #WeDecideCampaign to make sure residents of Philadelphia decide the future of our energy system. In that time, we have successfully put pressure on the Mayor's Office of Sustainability to demand energy planning (1) directly address the role of fossil fuels in causing climate change and (2) involve residents most impacted by our current energy system. We have also began modeling for the Office of Sustainability what we think real community engagement looks like by engaging over 250 residents in a survey about energy.
The Nov. 4 Town Hall is a milestone in the campaign. By discussing the results of the survey, we will take another step in building a vision for our energy system by and for the people.
The next step out of the town hall will be an action to deliver the survey results to the Office of Sustainability, as well as a Leadership Training for new members to join Philly Thrive and continue building a people's energy platform.
