Join JVP Philly to learn about two different ideological tendencies that are less-understood parts of the Israel/Palestine political conversation: a.) the Orthodox Jewish anti-Zionist movement, known as Neturei Karta and b.) a group of religious settlers who promote equal rights for Palestinians while holding fast to their belief in the necessity of Jewish settlement in the West Bank. Both of these tendencies are fraught with ambiguity, combining “left-wing” and “right-wing” elements and raising fundamental questions about the nature of solidarity.
Presentations by Heather Tenzer about her documentary film in-progress, The Rabbis’ Intifada, which is about the Neturei Karta movement, and Matt Berkman on his article "The West Bank 'Alternative Peace Movement' and its transnational infrastructure." (see links to both as event posts!)
